On the 13–15 August, the eight Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs from across Australia came together at the Regions Rising National Summit, hosted by the Regional Australia Institute (RAI). The summit gathered leaders, experts, and community members to discuss strategies for regional growth and resilience, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities facing regional Australia.
Karen George, Knowledge Broker for the TNQ Drought Hub, attended the event, which was filled with vibrant discussions and thought-provoking sessions. “The summit highlighted the critical need to invest in and empower our regional communities, especially as more people are choosing to move from cities to the regions,” Karen said.
A key session at the summit featured a panel showcasing the work of the Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs and other Future Drought Fund initiatives. This session underscored the impact the Future Drought Fund is having on building resilience in rural communities, particularly in the face of climate variability.
