It is dominated by dry tropical savanna rangelands, however it contains a stretch of Gulf of Carpentaria coastline to the west and wet tropical rainforests to the east.
Gulf Savannah NRM facilitates community owned outcomes, which balance economic activity, social and cultural interests and environmental values, within the context of maintaining and managing healthy ecosystem functions. Gulf Savannah NRM is a “bottom up” organisation, in that the ideas and projects emanate from residents and community members of the region. This leads to the community, bush, seas and industries remaining healthy and viable for future generations. Click here to view their regional priorities.
