Key takeaways
This month, Program Lead Kara-Glenn Worth jointed the team at Gulf Savannah NRM in Mareeba to deliver a tailored train-the-trainer workshop on AgValuate.
AgValuate is an innovation readiness assessment tool designed to support technology adoption and assist in inspiring meaningful conversations between extension practitioners and producers. The tool provides a structured way to explore business performance, management priorities, risk, and future opportunities at the farm level, helping to identify where innovation, technology or new practices may create the most value for a farming business.
The workshop focused on building confidence among extension staff and engagement officers to use AgValuate in their work with producers across the Gulf Savannah region. The staff were introduced to the structure and purpose of the AgValuate assessment and explored how it can be used as a practical entry point for deeper discussions with producers about business management, innovation, and decision-making.
During the workshop, the group also discussed how AgValuate could be integrated into existing extension activities delivered by Gulf Savannah NRM. Opportunities identified post-session included using the assessment to support group discussions at producer workshops and field days, facilitating one-on-one follow-up conversations, and acting as a precursor to more targeted technical support.
With Gulf Savannah NRM preparing to scale up its community engagement program over the coming dry season, the training provided a valuable opportunity to equip staff with a practical tool to support producer engagement and strengthen extension outcomes across the region.
Producers across the FNQ region are invited to register for a free AgValuate AgTech assessment.
