Regional Soils Coordinator Dhiraj Gajera hosted a hands-on soil health workshop for growers on May 14th  at the Department of Primary Industries South Johnstone Research Facility in Far North Queensland.

Supported by the Australian Banana Growers Council, the workshop focused on practical, on-farm ways to build resilience by improving soil biology, maintaining groundcover, and boosting species diversity. Dhiraj shared his knowledge with growers during a productive afternoon packed with tips and lively discussion.

“The workshop was great. Growers asked a lot of questions about how to look after their soil. We have to remember, soil is our most important natural asset,” Dhiraj said.

With years of experience in soil health, Dhiraj sparked important conversations around preventing soil degradation, how changing climates affect soil quality, and how healthy soil supports strong, productive plants.
