Climate modelling to help map the future

Transformational Agricultural Systems Program Lead Dr. Benjamin Jarihani recently took the stage at Locate25, Australia’s premier geospatial conference held in Brisbane, highlighting the critical role of environmental and climate modelling in building resilience.

Dr. Jarihani’s presentation explored how wetland restoration and hydrological assessment can enhance ecosystem resilience and support climate change adaptation

“It was a privilege to attend the conference,” Dr. Jarihani said .“It provided a valuable opportunity to reconnect with peers, explore collaborative possibilities, and stay informed on the latest trends and technologies shaping our field.”

As the TNQ Drought Hub’s lead on climate modelling work, Dr. Jarihani applies his expertise in hydrology, water resource management, and environmental modelling to produce data-driven insights that support informed decision-making across the agriculture sector. His work is central to understanding climate risks and opportunity, and has been used throughout the hub’s NRM partners to engage with landholders at workshops and shape new, resilience-focused project designs.
