Farm Business Planning Support - free, impartial and confidential by the Farm Business Resilience Program

The Farm Business Resilience Program offers tailored support for farmers and graziers across all commodities to prepare for the future.

Farm Business Planning North Queensland (FBPNQ) and various program partners deliver the Farm Business Resilience Program in North Queensland.

Why complete a Farm Business Resilience Plan?

Completing a Farm Business Resilience Plan not only equips you with a clear strategy for your business but enables you to apply for drought preparedness and recovery support through QRIDA, including access to low-interest loans and grants.

The plan also serves as a powerful tool for aligning stakeholders such as financiers, accountants, solicitors, and employees on the direction and goals of your business.

Through the program, you can:

  • review all key aspects of your business – production, natural resource management, financial, WH&S, pre-succession, and personal goals
  • access learning opportunities through training and workshops
  • identify strategies to mitigate business risks
  • enhance farm management practices and business performance
  • get referrals to local project partners and trusted industry experts
  • develop a tailored Farm Business Resilience Plan with ongoing support.

How can the Farm Business PLanning Officer help?

Farm Business Planning Officers offer free, confidential support to primary producers involved in the program. Officers collaborate with various project partners and external providers to assist with all aspects of your business, including:

  • visiting your property or meeting with you at another location for a face-to-face appointment
  • guiding you through a self-assessment checklist (business analysis)
  • developing a Farm Business Resilience Plan tailored to your enterprise
  • sharing skills and knowledge to enhance your financial and business literacy
  • assisting with drought support package applications or referrals to external assistance

Eligibility

The program is open to all Queensland primary producers who meet the Commonwealth’s eligible farm business criteria:

  • registered for tax purposes and GST with an Australian Business Number (ABN);
  • operating as a sole trader, trust, partnership or private company; and
  • commercially viable.
