DESCRIPTION:Thriving community organisations rely on good governance and effective leaders. \nJoin the TNQ Drought Hub and Get on Board Australia for a comprehensive and interactive online Governance Essentials course that takes you through the principles of governance\, duties and responsibilities\, ethical decision-making and how to be a confident leader. \nDate: Monday 8 April – Friday 14 June \nDuration: 6 sessions (8 April\, 19 April\, 3 May\, 17 May\, 31 May and 14 June) including introduction and graduation \nTime: 12:15pm – 1:00pm (AEST) \nWhere: Online (blended self-paced learning with short recap sessions) \nCost: $150 (valued at $250\, subsidised by the TNQ Drought Hub) \nEnrol if you want to: \n\nGrow your capacity as a leader\nTake on a committee role on your community\nUnderstand board frameworks\, role requirements and risk management\nGain valuable insights into best practices from a governance professional\n\nThe course will run in four modules over eight weeks\, each with a fortnightly online lunch and learn session. The online sessions will support participants working through the self-paced course and provide the opportunity to engage with other students. \nFor each module\, you will be encouraged to share reflections and go through a knowledge check on what you have learnt. Participants will also have lifetime access to the course resources so they can refer to the content to aid them in current or future committee roles. \n2023 participants said the course was “really useful\, especially to do with conflicts of interests and how to manage that in small communities”\, “great to consolidate what you need to know being on a management committee or board” and “the small cost in time and money was well worth the content\, and newfound confidence”. \nHaving skilled and capable people in committee roles in your community helps enhance all community members and builds resilient towns and regions. \nAbout the presenter: \nLisa Cook is the Founder and Managing Director of Get on Board Australia\, supporting aspiring\, new and existing board members\, and boards to thrive. She has nearly 15 years of experience serving on boards from a range of organisations in the private\, public\, and not-for-profit sectors in Adelaide\, Sydney\, and across Australia.
