DESCRIPTION:Learn about science-backed methods of maintaining crop yield while reducing nitrogen fertiliser at this free workshop in Mareeba \nDo you want to reduce fertiliser application and increase your profit margin? \nJoin Gulf Savannah NRM for a free workshop on non-legume nitrogen fixation in sugarcane and other crops. In this workshop\, you’ll hear the results of many years of experiments in sugarcane where crop yields were maintained while nitrogen fertiliser application was reduced to below 30kg N/ha per year. \nThis session will be especially relevant for cane farmers on the Tablelands and elsewhere\, as well as other growers who want to gain insight into alternate methods of reducing nitrogen fertiliser application. \nAll registered participants will receive a free farm map of their property when they arrive. As part of the workshop\, you will be assisted to design a trial area for your property to test the methods discussed at the event. The multi award-winning field days is the largest field days in Northern Australia – and it’s all for charity! \nOpening Times: \nWednesday & Thursday – 9.00am to 6.00pm \nFriday – 9.00am – 4.00pm \n  \nThe Rotary FNQ Field Days are a project of the Rotary Clubs of Atherton and Mareeba. \nAll monies raised are donated to charities and community organisations. \nThe Rotary FNQ Field Days has grown exponentially since its conception in the mid 1980’s. Run by the combined Atherton and Mareeba Rotary Clubs\, the community event continues to raise record amounts each time the event is run.  On average 8\,000 people came through our gates each day. \nHeld over three days on a biennial basis\, the award-winning field days is the largest community event on the Tablelands.
