Soils – Life’s Foundation. Welcome to Reef Catchments’ 11th Annual Healthy Soils Symposium held over three days across the region!
Landholders, industry, government, and consumers increasingly understand the crucial role soil commands in our lives. Soil’s very existence is life’s foundation. In the 21st Century, consideration of soils’ fragility is a baseline for its management. More than ever, we need to be considerate of the closed circuit of influence soil health has on that of plants, animals, people, and ultimately, our planet.
At this year’s National Landcare Conference, the Hon. Penny Wensley, Australia’s National Soils Advocate, clearly stated the importance of soil care, conservation, and regeneration as solutions to reducing climate change impacts, improving environmental health, and ensuring ongoing food security.
This year’s three-day event includes two Field Days where local farm management examples and demonstrations will share issues, mitigations, and successes in creating vibrant, healthy soils. The Conference Day is packed with presentations for a full day of information sharing, including case study findings, research, and experiences in discovering soil health as we know it today.
This event is proudly hosted by Reef Catchments and funded by the Australian Government through the National Landcare Program.
