Governance Essentials

April 8 - June 14

Thriving community organisations rely on good governance and effective leaders.

Join the TNQ Drought Hub and Get on Board Australia for a comprehensive and interactive online Governance Essentials course that takes you through the principles of governance, duties and responsibilities, ethical decision-making and how to be a confident leader.

Date: Monday 8 April – Friday 14 June

Duration: 6 sessions (8 April, 19 April, 3 May, 17 May, 31 May and 14 June) including introduction and graduation

Time: 12:15pm – 1:00pm (AEST)

Where: Online (blended self-paced learning with short recap sessions)

Cost: $150 (valued at $250, subsidised by the TNQ Drought Hub)

Enrol if you want to:

  • Grow your capacity as a leader
  • Take on a committee role on your community
  • Understand board frameworks, role requirements and risk management
  • Gain valuable insights into best practices from a governance professional

The course will run in four modules over eight weeks, each with a fortnightly online lunch and learn session. The online sessions will support participants working through the self-paced course and provide the opportunity to engage with other students.

For each module, you will be encouraged to share reflections and go through a knowledge check on what you have learnt. Participants will also have lifetime access to the course resources so they can refer to the content to aid them in current or future committee roles.

2023 participants said the course was “really useful, especially to do with conflicts of interests and how to manage that in small communities”, “great to consolidate what you need to know being on a management committee or board” and “the small cost in time and money was well worth the content, and newfound confidence”.

Having skilled and capable people in committee roles in your community helps enhance all community members and builds resilient towns and regions.
