What is the collective noun for a group of strategies: a confusion, a clump? Whatever it might be, it applies to the Australian agricultural landscape. The industry is not short of ambitious, well-constructed, goal setting plans and strategies. Many of these strategies have been significant influencers of investment in – and perceptions of – Australian agriculture. But do they make sense as a collective? How are they connected to each other and is the whole more than the sum of the parts? We are not lacking ideas in Australian agricultural strategy; but we need a better system to connect these multifaceted initiatives.
